About GRIP

GRIP is an ongoing series of courses to give more people the opportunity to gain practical experience and skills in sound and light engineering. Women, non-binary and transgender people are still strongly under-represented in the sound and light engineering field, and we want to do something about that. The development of the cultural scene is not just about creating a variety of people on stage, but also backstage – in production, light and sound engineering, and in all the other important roles.

GRIP is a collaborative project between Bergen Kjøtt, Bergen Internasjonale Teater, Prøverommet, Carte Blanche, AKKS Bergen, sound engineer Irene Bjørke and light engineer Maja Bergebakken Sundt.

GRIP is organized with partners in Bergen including Borealis – a festival for experimental music, Landmark / Bergen kunsthall, Østre and Vill Vill Vest and is supported by Sparebanken Vest, Bergen municipality, Kulturrom, Balansekunst and apap-FEMINIST FUTURES (financed by the Creative Europe program in the EU).
