AKKS has worked to improve the gender balance on the Norwegian music scene since 1982. Our main focus is on girls, but we back everyone who wants to try out music, be it behind the drums, the microphone, the guitar or the mixing board.
What is AKKS?
AKKS is a nationwide, ideal music organisation offering instrument courses, band courses and rehearsal spaces, as well as concerts with both professional and up-and-coming bands and artists. Are you a future rock star? Or maybe you’ve always dreamed of playing in a band? At our courses you can try out a new instrument, learn to write your own songs, learn how to perform on a stage, play together with others, be taught by professional musicians and have fun with music.
Where is AKKS?
AKKS Oslo is located on Brenneriveien 9 in a colourful street at Grünerløkka between the concert venues Blå and Vulcan. This is where our rehearsal rooms are, and here we offer our courses and workshops with inspiring teachers who themselves are performing artists, producers, technicians and music business professionals.
Why does AKKS exist?
AKKS works for a more balanced gender distribution in every part of the music industry. The purpose is to recruit, motivate and promote women in all parts of the music industry. AKKS a co-founder of the Balansekunst project.
